HEADLINE: Stating the obvious

A LOCAL authority spent GBP 10,000 on a year-long study of taxis - and concluded that more people want to use them at pub closing time.

Perth and Kinross Council was told: "Public houses close at about the same time in the evening.

Demand for taxis at these time, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, is often higher than during many other daytime periods." Tory councillor Alexander Stewart said of the report: "It doesn't really tell us anything we don't already know." The council says the study will ensure it complies with taxi laws.
