We're a group of Product designers and ergonomists from Coventry University, undertaking an investigation into the effectiveness of current taxis. We need to know any problems that you face during a typical day, and any things that you think need changing. We'd also like to know what you like about the current taxis, if there are things that you can't do without. Any comments are welcome and greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

What do you mean by current taxis? The London type or saloon taxis.

An ejector seat would be nice, perhaps also a laser gun to vapourise daft old women in front driving at 20mph everywhere. Front seats to have a fist fitted in the rear to silence screaming kids and idiots who say "i'll direct you" rather than just giving me the address. Oh, and a remote electric shock device to zap any base op who types the wrong house number in.

We're talking London style taxis here. And while your suggestions are quite valid Geoff, I'm not sure health and safety would pass them. Are there any more realistic suggestions? your input may influence a new kind of taxi in the not so distant future. |

What has your investigation uncovered so far? If your investigating why ask us to do your job for you? We might be biased in favour or agaisnt a particular vehicle. I think you should ask vehicle manufacturers to loan you one of their vehicles, do your study, then come back and tell us which vehicles are more suitable than others? Regards JD |

If the turning circle requirement is removed, there may not be any London style Taxis in 20 years time? Regards JD |

As far as we can so far gather the trade seems to want; A vehicle with a 25 foot turning circle A vehicle that drives like a saloon car (preferably an Aston Martin) A vehicle that suits people in wheelchairs A vehicle that suits people with other disabilities such as old age and people with broken legs and people with arthritis. A vehicle that we can use as private cars when we are not working. A vehicle that is instantly recognisable as a taxi (but not whilst were not using it as a taxi) A vehicle that comes in any colour A vehicle that doesnt cost any money. regards CC |

Taxis of the future will be like this a robot sits in the seat [sounds familiar] passenger gets in, puts in ID card together with payment card passenger tells robot through intercom go to so and so robots head swing 360 degrees, in a dialek voice, says, Not valid street, street not recognized, try again as and when the correct street is given off goes the cab of the future, further down the line the robots voice starts saying, emergency, emergency, credit for this journey running out, please insert other credit card or journey terminated any bad language or threats to the driver will be picked up by the internal intercom to which robot will say, terminating terminating, please exit |

This is called a focus group, we're asking you the driver because at the end of the day, it's you that has to drive the vehicle, not the manufacturer. We're asking you to talk about how YOU would improve YOUR vehicle. It doesn't matter if you are biased against one or the other, there will be a varied response balancing things out. Thanks for all your comments people, they're much appreciated |

Quote: This is called a focus group, If your focus is on London style Taxis you would be best advised to consult with LTI, they have all the required information and I might add that they have had for many, many years. Quote: we're asking you the driver because at the end of the day, it's you that has to drive the vehicle, not the manufacturer.
I advise you to get a website put up a questionnaire and then ask for the assistance of those who drive these vehicles. Regards JD |

JD, do you own a London style taxi? We're pretty sure that this is a taxi forum, in which we are asking for the assistance of taxi drivers about their vehicles. We only need to know about LTI TX series vehicles. We have already been in contact with the LTI factory as it is on our doorstep, and questionnaires and surveys have already been issued. If you don't want to offer your assistance then kindly don't waste our time. Regards |
