HEADLINE: Kingston Bridge walker killed

BYLINE: MARTYN McLAUGHLIN

THREE men in their twenties were killed in road accidents in the Glasgow area over the weekend. A 21-year-old man died early yesterday after being struck by a car while walking over the Kingston Bridge.

The victim, who has not been identified, was making his way along the eastbound carriageway of the M8 at junction 19 at around 3.45am when he was struck by a Hackney taxi cab.

The man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, but died a short time later. The 41year-old driver of the taxi was uninjured.

Police are studying CCTV images and appealed for witnesses to the incident. PC Colin Scott from Strathclyde Police said: "At this time we are working to piece together the young man's movements and trying to establish why he was on the Kingston Bridge. It seems to be a tragic accident, and we would be grateful for any witnesses to come forward."
