A case for Spanish Taxi Meters. Sunday Times (London) February 4, 2007, Sunday HEADLINE: Un-metered cabs in Granada LEAVING Granada airport, we got into a cab at the official taxi rank. It was only when we arrived at the hotel that we realised there was no meter. The driver charged us E45; it should have cost about E20. The EU likes legislation, so why doesn't it rule that all cabs must be metered, especially at official ranks? For the flight back, we went by bus: E3 each. and most of the changes this government wish to impliment are blamed on european directives. Are we the only EU state that puts up with this crap. Sure they should have meters ............ but obviously Spain do not wish to form their legislation besed upon whats best for the visitors to spain. I bet the Spanish don't put up with it. INDEPENDANCE FOR THE UK.

How does the guy know it should have cost 20 Euro? How is this anything to do with the EU? CC |

There are a couple of areas in the UK that don't have meters in their taxis? So what's the difference?

Maybe the "taxi" was in fact a private hire car? So not so different from some UK airports? |
