Black Country News: Cabbie stabbed and robbed by passengers;

POLICE are appealing for information after a taxi driver was stabbed in Ashmore Park, Wolverhampton.

The attack happened at about 4.30am on Sunday after the driver had picked up two men in Broad Street, in the city centre and took them to Perks Road, in Ashmore Park. One of the men, who was sitting in the back seat, grabbed the taxi driver and the other man, sitting in the passenger seat, threatened the man with a knife and demanded money.They stole a quantity of cash.

The taxi driver, a 47-year-old Wolverhampton man, sustained a stab wound to his chest and to his leg. He is currently in a very serious but stable condition in hospital.

The offenders are described as two black men in their 20s, one man was possibly wearing jeans, a black jacket and a white baseball cap. The other offender was wearing dark clothing.
