By all accounts, I haven't seen it yet, the Council's Taxi Action Plan could just offer the trade a false glimmer of hope to retain it's restriction, it's £50,000 plate values and it's correspondingly higher than justifiable rentals.
But, where is it?
The draft taxi action plan was due to be published on 15th December 2006.
It was pulled. Why? Who knows? Who cares? It is irrelevant anyway.
Nevertheless, secretly, it was presented to the Hire Car Licensing Consultation Group, on the 13th February. It was dated 7th February.
This raises some questions.
Why did ETIG, who assumed the mantle of disseminating information about the trade, not publicise this? So, what is the real value of ETIG? (Does it even still exist?)
Why did those on the HCLCG, persuaded that this document will protect the vested interest in the trade, not arrange for this document to be discussed in the widest arena?
If this site, this forum, truly has its ear to the ground, why is this document not being publicised and discussed here?
So, and I admit to not having read it, what does this document say about the way your trade will be shaped in the future?
Will it deal with the real issues of £50,000 unsustainable plate values, transferring of plates which the Act does not permit ("buyers" being "sold a pup"), unjustifiably high rentals, an interested parties list that can no longer have licences issued from it in isolation, the licence applications currently before the council and the court cases the council is defending in March, along with future court cases dealing with continued refusals of licence applications?
We shall see. I think not.
Now there's a funny thing - Skull has made the above post - yet over on fastblacks - the identical post appears to come from James Barclay Taylor.
Own up now boys - who's pulling who's strings - Chipetto Thompson or Pinnochio Taylor
Somebody's telling lies - ha ha

like we never knew that before
