Taxi driver mugged
A Local TAXI driver was punched and mugged during a racially-motivated attack.
The Afro-Carribean man, 44, who lives in Basildon, was verbally abused, hit and robbed of more than £100.
He picked up four men from Grays town centre in his grey Skoda Octavia and was travelling along Southend Road near the junction of Chadwell Road, in Grays, when he was attacked and abused.
The gang grabbed his money and damaged his car before running off.
Det Con Dean Batson said: "This was a spiteful attack on someone who was doing these men a favour by taking them home after a night out.
"Thankfully, he didn't receive any serious injuries from the sustained beating."
The men were all white, in their early twenties and approximately 6ft tall.
