A man who has a lot to lose perhaps  Someone should have told him that plate he thinks he owns is not his.
Yes the local LA "owns" the plate,(boring, heard it all before). Stick your head up out of the swamp and look at the real world. What you get for nothing is worth exactly what you pay for it. When plates are worth nothing so is the business. Look at what happend to the buses. If there were total dereg the bus companies will be all over the taxi trade and the owner/driver would be extinct in 5 years. They have very deep pockets and the business brains that are so lacking in the taxi fraternity. The only thing preventing a national taxi company is the local licensing issue. Owner/Drivers will go the way of the corner shop. TESCO TAXIS ???, they are into every area of consumer retailing. Think about how much the national taxi/ph turnover is and tell me those numbers would not interest a major retailer and then I will think about what I have to lose. The trade has been very good to me, I have enjoyed it and made a very good living. I will retire in the next few years and live off my investments. If I were starting today, forget it, the best days are gone. I give it 5 years max before the trade changes to multi region or national companies and the only owner/drivers will be in rural and uneconomic areas populated by "sussex" and his ludite retards.
So in 5 years your going to just hand your plate back then?
No, i didnt think so! :-({|=
The only way your buisness is worth anything is if you had regular customers who only use you!
As it is, anyone can pick up your punters, you wont be missed in 5 years time mate, not by anyone.................................................bye![/quote]
I paid nothing for it, I got mine from the waiting list so I have never attached any value to it. I do have a very good customer base but that goes with my telephone number which may have a value. Customer base list are very tradeable. Are my feeling supposed to be hurt by your your "wont be missed" remark, how very sad your life must be.
