A TEENAGER who died after being hit by a car in Liverpool was “everybody’s friend,” his family said today.

Danny Ho, 19, from Croxteth Park, was knocked down on Scotland Road on Sunday morning as he walked from the city centre with two friends looking for a taxi.

The apprentice electrician was hit by a Citroen Xsara estate at 6.15am and taken to the Royal Liverpool hospital where his family kept a vigil at his bedside.

But the popular teenager died at 6.30am yesterday.

Today a large shrine had sprung up at the scene of the accident, near the Wallasey tunnel.

More than 50 bouquets and cards lined the section of road where he was hit, and crowds of people stood to pay tribute to the Everton fan.

His sister Ashley, 16, wept uncontrollably by the roadside.

His mother Joan, 43, from Tiptree Close, said: “He loved football and partying – he was a party animal and he always had everyone laughing.

“He didn’t have a long-term girlfriend, but all the girls loved him, too – we’ve seen so many leaving flowers by the road.”

Mrs Ho said her son was planning to return to Magaluf in Majorca, where he had the holiday of his life last year with friends.

She added: “He had been doing his course for about 18 months and was due to take his final exams in a few weeks.”

Mrs Ho said she and her husband Benny, 41, a chef, and their other son Tom, 16, had heard the news an hour after he was taken to hospital.

She said: “They had been out in town. His friends live near County Road and they had walked up to try to get a taxi. The driver was on his way home from work and he stopped.

“The police told us he was very poorly, and he never regained consciousness.

“We’ve had so many people coming round and ringing up. He was everyone’s friend.”

Police are appealing for information about the accident.

Anyone who can help the investigation should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
