Well,here we go,how to be a millionaire.
Will be seeing about dual, dual dual, plates next Monday,at Dundee City Council;then Fife,Angus,Perth@Kinross,and maybe go into Aberdeen or
Outer Hebrides.
This is a farce.
One person who makes out of this is the person, that has recently received his dual Perth/Dundee,why,because he is SELLING his Perth plate.
My god,how cynical can you get.
And before Sussex jumps on the band wagon and says good for him,I say bad for the trade.
The industry has faults, but this, this is a scandal.
We need for a better word zones,in our trade,Perth,Angus,Dundee etc and once people jump on the band wagon for a free for all, that is when the trade suffers.
Yours,
The cabbie, with the trailer, with all the plates on the back.

I don't think Sussex has ever said 'good for him' to anyone who has sold his plate. :( :( :(

Anyway, I can't work out why the dick head has gone through all the dual license nonsense when he is going to sell his P&K plate.

But if his vehicle is licensed elsewhere, how can he sell it? And the plate is also the council's, so what exactly is up for sale? :?

Wow, someone selling a taxi plate, what a novelty.

Err, no, it happens the world over. It may be wrong, but it's hardly a big event.

He clearly wanted to make sure the Dundee plate was cut and dried before dumping the Perth one.

As for your point about cynicism, don't forget that plenty in Dundee would like to sell their plates. In fact a couple of years ago the DTA's solicitor raised the point specifically, but Dundee City Council told him that such a move would be illegal.

Perth Council operate a scam to get round the no-transfer rules in the legislation.

So if you're looking for cynics, try the DTA and Perth and Kinross Council.

Why do you say that?

I knew the point about double standards wouldn't be answered, so I signed the message 'gadgie' to give people something to jump on.

And jump someone did.

Or should that be dig.

Into a hole, that is.

Gadgie

ive spotted at least two fife plates who regulary tout dundee but remember if they crossed the bridge their reg number and time they crossed are recorded ,if they came by perth they will have to work overtime to cover their fuel, one day they will pick up a taxi driver without knowing it ( there are over 2000 badge holders both male/female) then well see what happens, i always thought that perth was the fair city always looking down on dundonians must be that times have changed and maybe dundonians are moe affluent than the perth occupants think i havent heard of any dundee cabbies travelling to perth to tout? any outsiders travelling to dundee will notice as you cross the bridge its free ,then you will meet some of the friendliest people on earth (quoted from newspapers) howerver try returning to fife and its .80 before you cross the bridge and if you dont drive faster than 70 a druggie will nick your wheeltrims...

Any details Scott?

I work in NE Fife and some drivers occassionally say that they picked up in Dundee, but I doubt if any are doing it on a regular basis, but if you can provide any more details.

it works both ways - when the Open was in St Andrews in 2000 there were Dundee taxis picking up all over the place, but normally theirs not mcuh flag work so it doesnt happen much.

Are you sure they are touting - some of the Tayport/Newport taxis do a lot of work in Dundee and because theress just a half dozen of them you might be seeing the same cars all the time but they might not be doing anything wrong.

cany fifer the chances are that the two cabs i see regulary are on a drop and return basis i was only trying to get at the pap who posted above my posting, as you say casual touting happens in every city no cabbie from dundee is going to knock back a job from another district which is returning to dundee and if it was on a saturday night he would probably be welcome to it i know i wouldnt like to go out of town on a saturday night and if i saw a cab from the district to which the punters were going id give him the fare, but with all this dual plate fiasco every out of town plate will be under close observation and if any evidence is obtained the dundee dta can apply to have the tay bridge blown up and a large wall built between dundee and perth ....
