In the absence of an exemption certificate, I was wondering if anyone could offer what might be deemed a reasonable excuse for not carrying a blind working dog? Regards JD |

In the absence of an Exemption Certificate - NO! Although a Doctors Certificate along with associated paperwork for applying for an excemption cert might prevent prosecution for as long as Exem Cert is granted. |

Apart from an allergy or a fear of dogs, I don’t think so, but I think it should be a requirement to have some sort of throw-over for the seats and carpet for the dog to sit on. I like dogs and have one myself but I don’t like the idea of someone getting into a taxi or a Ph after a smelly wet dog has made his presence felt.

Our LA state that the dog must be on the floor of the taxi and not on the seats. If the dog gets on the seats and makes a mess you can charge a soiling charge, even if it is a working dog. |

In legal terms is there a legitimate excuse other than an exemption certificate? |

Is there any Law's regards restraining a dog in a Taxi? Do they have to wear a harness onto the seatbelt or is this choice? Or is this the driver just looking for a way out of the fare that they don't want? I love dogs and as mine travel in the cab can't see any reason why someone elses shouldn't; but whilst in the the New Forest A couple of weekends ago I left my car at a Pub and walked back to my hotel dog in hot pursuit and could not find a local cab company that would take me and my faithful hound back to my car the next morning! Just being annoying I rang a local vet and asked if they could arrange a taxi for me and my dog and got a long silence before a "it might be best if you arrange transport"
Aren't there any other dog owning cabbies on here? |
