Alex obviously it is your perogative to lock a thread, but why was "passenger and driver " taken off. I do not feel that "Lone Ranger" or myself put anything offensive on there. However if it was the Topic holder then perhaps that person needed to be told to tone it down. The subject if approached in a civilised manner has got some credibility, if I am out of line which is not my intention then please feel free to P.M me. Regards John |

I'm not saying anyone has put anything offensive, in fact the software usually edits out any bad words, it's just that the thread was going down an alley I would rather it didn't. The reason I deleted your post was that it would have looked stupid you responding to something that wasn't there. We all see and hear things we would rather we didn't, but not all the bad stuff needs to be posted on TDO. It needs to be reported to the proper authorities. And of course there is no reason why someone can't start a similiar thread if they feel the need. Maybe when the new website that Junie is on about is up and running we can all discuss her particular issues then. Alex |

Sorry. these are not just my issues but have been reported by many and a lot of interest has been shown in addressing serious problems. All have been taken to the correct authorities by many. but the isolation of incidents make a positive outcome unlikely. The frustration with this position has been one of the interests and motivations behind the site. Have a mighty Thumbs Up as many feel alone they do not have a voice. Like i said have been discussing with the police how contributors to the site may be supported and their reports used if it could identfy an offender. On a smaller scale, several cabbies indentifying regular trouble makers, non-payers and those likely to turn aggressive could maybe successfully get an asbo recognising the problem and getting the person to pre-book a black cab and always have the money and pay up front. That way no one else has to deal with him. Can think of a few who are unofficially banned by word of mouth but always catch some newbie cabbie out. |

I think it boils down to the fact that on this site you will find your biggest supporters for your website. And the biggest supporters of any driver in trouble. And it has cost none of them over the years a penny.

Thanks. Just got a reply e-mail from Health and Safety Executive. Really good data about employers having a respponsibility to identify, monitor and take action and organise for any threats including violence and abuse. Have been arguing the year that councils and licencing should take responsibility in monitoring and planning for driver's safety. Of course it could be argued that thye are not the employer, but that is like saying they are not responsible for safety in pubs then banning smoking and charging you 000s if you do. Just think we have been on the back end of the taxi rank for sometime and many are happy for us to stay there. |

Cant wait Junie,HSE should be interesting, terrified of the day they never saw, usually hard hats for everything, steel toe caps etc, etc,Agree they should take active lead with LA's regards safety of drivers but wont drive taxi with hard hat on even although TX has room for top hats if required, thank you LTI it's those small details that count even although nobody really wears them anymore,All these vehicles have a high centre of gravity so that when cornering in a spirited fashion one can almost papper ones kex with the sudden weight transfer, sorting this out at the moment, trying pilots G-force suit to avoid blackouts on long sweeping bends!!! |

Reading through some of the posts on here I'm so glad that I don't work the same circuit as any of you. I can just imagine a "13" coming over the Radio - you lot would spend days debating whether the driver was in the right vehicle, whether they were of an appropriate age to be driving at that time, whether you should have had the job instead of them, if their car should have actually been on the road or did they get a free plate under some murky law, then you'd ask if the driver were male or female before debating whether they should be driving at that time etc. Three weeks later you night just drive past to see if there was anything wrong! |
