Since when did councils issue "O" licences? #-o

Good grief, you'd think that the last person on earth to unite the UK trade would be Terry, but by some miracle he's managed it single handedly.

Taxi and private hire drivers operating on an "O" license are not subject to the standard criminal record and or suitability checks, potentially putting the traveling public at risk from unchecked drivers and unregulated vehicles. (Quote)

What a load of tripe, we do get a full enhanced crb check, (and a police check every year,) and for some reason we have to have one every three years, even though we have not left the trade, yet for any other job that requires one, they only need one crb check and that lasts until they leave that job.

I think he's referring to the licences issued by VOSA to run bus-type services, so when he refers to councils issuing O licences and taxi and PH drivers operating under an O licence then it's just confusing the issue.

The people around that table haven't learnt a thing over the last six months, and clearly haven't got the balls to bin the OAP.

If those lads are happy for the OAP to be their top man, then good luck to them. [-(

This sadly reminds me of a time when we were all trying to get section 75 (1) (B) sorted and terry joined in trying to ammend a different section

Nice to see the union have united the trade on the 'O' license issue....just a shame they are about 3 months behind the NTA / NPHA / NTTG / T&G / and GMB  still never let the truth get in the way of a press release.

GMB members who work as professional drivers in the taxi and mini cab industry have set up a GMB National Committee.

A little birdy told me that this new committee agreed at their first meeting that no national press releases would go out without everyone first seeing it.

I wonder if Mr GA can confirm that, and whether or not he first saw the O license release on TDO. :D
