Taxi to the stars

Gazette & Herald

PICKERING private hire operator Tony Kemp has become a national pioneer of a new idea to give his passengers a more pleasurable ride.

For Tony, who runs Crystal Cars, has installed a 3D DVD film system in his Mercedes eight-seater car.

Passengers are provided with special glasses for what he describes as "cinematic experience" with virtual surround sound in the luxury vehicle.

"It's an ideal way of passing the time for people making long journeys to airports and ports in various parts of the country," said Tony, who added that it was already proving a popular attraction for passengers.

"We are able to offer more than 100 DVD films for the system which has a foldaway screen in the roof," he said.
