Taxi driver badly hurt in assault
A Taxi driver was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after being attacked by a gang in Weston.
At about 11.30pm, three young men hailed the taxi at the junction of Madam Lane and Ebdon Road.
When he stopped, one of the men kicked the car. The driver got out and was pushed to the floor and kicked in the head.
His attackers ran off after a passing motorist slowed down to see what was happening.
The man in his 40s was taken to Weston General Hospital but was later transferred to Frenchay, where he remained on Saturday in a serious but stable condition.
Police want to speak to the occupants of the car that stopped because they might have vital information for their investigation.
One of the attackers was wearing a hooded top but the victim was not able to provide any other descriptions.
Anyone with information should call Weston CID on 0845 456 7000 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
