Appeal Over Taxi Driver Death

Detectives are appealing for information following the death of a taxi driver who was found collapsed close to his cab in a Doncaster village.

Parvez Akhtar, aged 49, from the Bradford area, was found in Ruskin Drive, Armthorpe, in the early hours of yesterday morning. His cab was parked in nearby Tennyson Avenue.

A 19-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man from Doncaster were arrested yesterday in connection with the matter and were bailed pending further inquiries.

A post-mortem was carried out on Mr Akhtar but the results are not being released by police "for investigative purposes".

Mr Akhtar's family does not wish to comment. Officers believe people may have been in the area at the time and are appealing for anyone who was in or around Ruskin Drive or Tennyson Avenue at 5.30am yesterday and who has information about the incident to get in touch.
