Deputy leader Jim quits after five years in role
WYRE Council has a new deputy leader - and the new man in power is a familiar name.
Coun Jim Lawrenson stood down from his post this week, to be replaced by Coun Alan Vincent - the authority's leader until he was suspended from the council in November 2004.
Fleetwood solicitor Coun Vincent was banned for six months after a Standards Board hearing found he had sought to inappropriately influence a council decision when he acted for a taxi driver at a licen-sing committee meeting.
His absence from local affairs was brief, however, and he resumed his duties as member for Victoria ward six months later.
