there has been a lot of job loses in dundee recently one of the biggest the ncr lost(650)high paying jobs, these guys have left with some money in their pockets and dont know what to do with it, the most likely choice is get a taxi and rake it in, last month seen the final lay offs and this months licensing meeting(16/08/07) shows the effect ,one guy has applied for two private hire plates plus a wheelchair plate, he is going to be loaded,
reading the agenda of the meeting i found it interesting that the smoking enforcement officers are now authorised to ask for your window cleaning license
12/s
there is gossip that the council are trying to take back 203020/dundee private hires 71 plates, talk is that they are about to go bust again leaving a trail of debt but still trying to hold on to those plates, at the bottom of the agenda there is something about a company b but im not sure if this is related

So the window cleaners and taxi drivers will be having their badges checked by the City Centre Ambassadors and Smoking Enforcement Officers?

Don't they have proper licensing officers for that?

Never thought about window cleaners. But then unless you know that some one needs a license you would not think to check if they need one. How many punters actually know that the LA issue the table of fares and that it is not us that set the rate?

I have a number of window cleaners in my family and they all have work for every day they want to work.

In fact they turn away loads of new work daily.

They can park where they like, under health and safety rules, and IMO have a life of riley.

dawg hear about the guy who just got his wav plate, decides to put on a 05 vehicle bought second hand from a cabbie in glasgow, takes it to the test centre ,rather dirty, a mark where the old plate is still visible, a few dents here and there plus the meter is set at the glasgow rate, guess what, it wasn,t passed, i couldnt believe it ,and before anyone from dundee asks im not a racist ,im just picking up on the lack of info some operators seem to have regarding how to present a vehicle for inspection in dundee
