How the mighty plate holding “businessmen” of the Edinburgh Taxi Trade have fallen. Well boys, how much are your little “businesses” worth now? How are you going to pay off all that finance? What are you going to tell your wives? What about when you lose your driver and your rental? No more, “I’m a businessman”, just reality biting you on the ass. Come on boys; don’t spare me the details…. BTW, if you are thinking of chucking yourself off the North Bridge do it at night.

This is for the benefit of those wishing to apply: Let’s get something straight. Councillors will not take to the witness box to defend a decision to deny a taxi licence. Especially with Edinburgh’s burgeoning economy and no increase in taxi licences for 5 years. It won’t happen. The Jacobs report would be ripped to pieces and so would the councillors. It would be a career end-er for any politician to face that level of scrutiny. The last survey in March cost nearly £20,000 for 3 days just to produce a pile of bum wipe. There is no prospect of the council paying 20K every month or even every 3 months to keep the cap on. If they could they would be doing it already. Then you have to consider the Interested Parties List IPL. They can’t issue off it in isolation. Anyone can apply the minute demand is recognised. They would end up back in court with a useless survey unable to deny applicants their licences. Then there’s the 50K plate value, it’s ludicrous to suggest there is no significant demand when people are paying that kind of money for a licence. As long as there’s a cap on plates the value will increase and the council can’t have that, because that’s what’s got them in this position in the first place. The more drivers the fewer shifts the higher the rentals the greater the hike in plate premiums. The council’s policy to cap numbers is at an end. Take it from me; de-restriction is just around the corner. BTW, the Cab Office is going out to tender, now what does that tell you? Get your licence application in now. It's game over. The council have no where to run and no demand information to deny your licence application. _________________ |

Taylor and I have had an argument as to who is the most hated in the Edinburgh Taxi Owners Trade. Now I would like to claim the crown of bringing down the whole house of cards but Jim reckons he is more hated than me. I am none to pleased about this. Now if anyone wants to give me all the credit feel free. I told Jim that; as the main strategist it has to be me but it is true that Jim’s erudite ability did make all the difference. What do you the owners’ think: has Jim stolen my crown? |

I'm not a fan of violence, and go out of my way to make sure it never happens. But one of my most favourite quotes I've ever read on any taxi forum was the one "if they undercut me I uppercut them". I wonder who said that.

Kinda got to you didn't it Ross? If you ever get your tongue out of someone else's arse, you may just taste the strawberries.
BTW The Skull is somewhat more succint. He just says, "Ross is a fecking [edited by admin]".
