Safe taxi success
An innovative scheme launched to ensure people get a safe ride home in Carmarthenshire has enjoyed a successful first year.
Cab Safe - the first of its kind in Wales - works by customers texting CAB to 83222. Licensed taxi numbers are then sent directly back to the user's mobile.
People are located via their mobile phone signal, and are automatically sent a text with contact numbers of the nearest taxi firms.
It operates in both towns and rural areas.
Carmarthenshire's Community Safety Partnership is funding the scheme, which has more than 80 taxi companies signed up.
It is the next step following recent council campaigns warning residents of the dangers of using illegal taxis.
