So we have the Mansfield T&G saying there is no enforcement, and then we have one mush getting caught by two different sets of enforcement officers.

Someone must be telling porkies.

I think the only sensible way to prosecute is via the non-insurance way.

Then if they keep on, they wont have a license full-stop.

Nobody was telling porkies, it was the first time the Council had been out in a year.

TAXI DRIVERS PROSECUTED

Four taxi drivers who illegally picked up passengers have been prosecuted.

Mansfield District Council launched an initiative to stop private hire drivers picking up unbooked fares from the street in November last year.

The drivers have been fined, and a further two are awaiting hearings at Mansfield Magistrates' Court.

Three of the prosecutions involved drivers licensed by Ashfield District Council.

A Mansfield-licensed driver was fined £300. A licensing panel will now consider the status of his taxi licence.

The council's licensing committee was due to receive a progress report on the initiative this week

The drivers mentioned have been fined, "nothing else". They are free to carry on.

I suspect they have a few more points on their licenses, and if you council bans someone for using a mobile whilst engaged, then I would be surprised if they don't ban the ones licensed in Mansfield.
