Taxi users give views

Members of the public are to have their say on new rules for taxi drivers.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has released its draft Taxi and Private Hire Licensing Policy for public consultation.

The consultation follows a decision to remove limits on the number of hackney carriages the city council will license.

The draft policy proposes that all new hackney carriages have to be built after 2005, be wheelchair friendly and come from a limited list of vehicles. It also prescribes new testing procedures for drivers and new standards for vehicles. Copies of the draft are available at Hanley Town Hall and at the Civic Centre reception. The consultation runs until December 5.

Just had a peep and a lot of work has gone into this, shame that not more councils review their out-dated practises a tad more often. :-s
