TODDLER IN TAXI HORROR

A TODDLER has survived being dragged under a taxi on the drive of her own home.

Mum Monica Sheldrake, 28, watched helplessly as the cab driver reversed over 14-month-old Shannay after dropping off his fare.

Monica thought her little girl was dead - until the tot suddenly screamed.

She said: "The whole thing was a nightmare, I couldn't believe what was happening. We all shouted 'stop' but he couldn't hear us. I was hysterical."

Lucky Shannay escaped with a few cuts and bruises. Her relieved mum said: "Thankfully as far as we can tell she's all right."

The family, from Ipswich, Suffolk, said the driver didn't stick around. "He got out of the car and said 'sorry', but after that he left," said Monica.

Police have refused to name the taxi company.
