Private hire changes

REGULATIONS governing which vehicles are excluded from displaying private hire vehicle licence plates have been altered by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
The "prestige" models used by companies to transport corporate clients will now have to be less than seven years old when first registered, under changes agreed by councillors at a licensing committee meeting this week.
Councillors also agreed that Penso Technology's TW200 vehicle could be licensed as a hackney carriage and suitable models of the Volkswagen Caravelle and Mercedes EuroCab could be used as private hire vehicles.
