The video, which has gone viral, shows a Manchester warden attempting to issue a ticket to a cabbie after he was in a crash – and Manchester council has backed the taxi driver

This is the moment a scuffle breaks out after a traffic warden in Manchester attempts to issue a taxi involved in a crash a parking ticket.

The clip, which has had more than one million views on YouTube, shows the Manchester warden attempting to hand out a ticket to a damaged black cab parked on double yellow lines.

A man, who appears to be a taxi driver, is seen approaching her, telling her he cannot move it because of the smash.

The traffic warden replies: “I’m not speaking to you.”

The cameraman, filming on his phone, is heard to say: “You do realise I’ve had an accident?”

The traffic warden then tells him: “You’re not allowed to video me, thank you,” before appearing to push the phone away.

She continues: “I asked you not to video me,” before appearing to hit out again at the man.

After a bit of arm flailing, another man intervenes and warns the cameraman ‘not to hit a woman’ before threatening to assault him.

The traffic warden tells the passer-by 'thank you'.

Insisting the cameraman attacked her, she then says: “That’s assault, I’ve got a red mark ... I’ve got a bruise on my arm.”

The man replies: “You do realise my vehicle is not movable? I can’t move the vehicle.”

The camera then pans around and shows the taxi, which appears to have been badly damaged. Another passer-by is heard urging the traffic warden to have a rethink.

Thousands of Facebook users have shared and commented on the video.

Hundreds have backed the traffic warden for ‘doing her job’.

But many have blasted her for trying to issue the ticket and refusing to explain herself to the driver.

A Manchester council spokesman said: “We have clear guidelines and our traffic wardens are instructed not to issue parking tickets in circumstances where motorists have been forced to park following road traffic accidents.

“In this case, a ticket clearly should not have been given and if one was issued it will not be enforced.

"We are now reviewing the incident along with our contractors at NSL.”

The identity of the driver it not known but it is thought he was operating in Manchester city centre.

"It is thought the incident happened in the last few weeks.
