Taxi drivers reach training milestone

Wirral Globe

One hundred taxi and private hire drivers in Wirral can now boast new qualifications as part of pioneering training by Merseytravel, Wirral Council, and the Logistics College North West.

The milestone now reached means every taxi and private hire driver taking part in the training scheme has achieved a BTEC Level Two qualification.

The training comes as the region prepares for hundreds of thousands more visitors for Liverpool's European Capital of Culture Year in 2008.

Personally I think some sort of national taxi/ph qualification is a good thing.

But it needs to be arranged with drivers and their reps, not with boffins and people within the trade out for a quick buck.
