Police hunt for violent taxi passenger
A VIOLENT passenger who attacked a Doncaster taxi driver is being
hunted by police.
Officers are appealing for information about the assault on the 51-year-old
cabbie who had picked the man up in the town centre and took him to
Swinton before he claimed to have lost his house keys.
The man asked the taxi driver to take him back to Doncaster but during
the return journey, near the junction of York Road and Barnsley Road, he
became aggressive, assaulting the driver and causing substantial damage
to the cab.
He kicked the screen next to the driver and broke it before running off
towards the town centre. He was last seen on CCTV heading through
transport interchange tunnel.
He had been picked up from Priory Walk in Doncaster town centre, after
leaving the Walkabout pub at 11.25pm on Sunday November 25.
The taxi driver sustained scratches and bruises to his neck and face in the
attack.
Doncaster police have issued a picture of the man they want to trace in
connection with the incident.
He is white, in his mid 20s, 6ft, and of a medium build. He had short blond
spiky hair and was wearing blue jeans and a red short sleeved t-shirt.
