This is the second time Tom Murphy has featured on TDO but to be quite honest I'm not sure if this letter relates to the first letter I highlighted.

Mr Murphy is a classic example of those hackney carriage drivers who believe that local residents should not use any other hire vehicle than one that is licensed locally. This country is full of Mr Murphys and no doubt some on here will see their reflection in the words of Mr Murphy but not me.

Letter: You say - Cabs for Liverpool

Tom Murphy

IN reply to ECHO shortpoints (Oct 2), I have paid for the right to a Liverpool plate and badge to work Liverpool.

This person said every time a Liverpool resident phones for a Sefton private hire cab, they vote for what service they want. I don't think so. They phone Sefton because they have seen the number on cards and billboards.

I sat the Street Knowledge test for Liverpool so I can work Liverpool. If residents of Liverpool work for Sefton-plated cabs, that does not give them the right to work Liverpool.

Liverpool-plated hackney and private hire drivers have paid Liverpool council for that right to work in Liverpool and Sefton drivers have not.

I hope Liverpool people will see this and make their minds up who to phone. Liverpool cabs for Liverpool people.

Letter: Short points - WHAT a load of rubbish

WHAT a load of rubbish from a taxi driver of 30 years (ECHO Letters, Sept 26).

Sefton private hire cabs are not insured to work in the Liverpool area, he stated. He must know that is untrue.

Every time a Liverpool resident phones up for a Sefton private hire cab they vote for what kind of service they want. Are we to believe that no Liverpool residents are working on Sefton plated cabs?

What exactly is he suggesting when he says Liverpool drivers should sticktogetherand rid Liverpool of Sefton private hires?

The people have a choice and they are using it.

Liverpool cabs for Liverpool people?????
Liverpool players only to play for Liverpool FC no outsiders allowed.

How about building a wall around the City and then the taxi drivers can take it in turns to man the battlements.

Building a large wall around Liverpool does have merit, with the proviso it's one way in only.

At the end of the day it is the customer who decides who they want to use if the service is good emough you will get trade if someone else ids offering a better service then watch out

I do suspect that this is probably about pricing i.e. the sefton boys are probably cheaper
