Robbers strike at taxi firm
DETECTIVES in Colchester are appealing for witnesses after a taxi
company was robbed by three men.
At about 1.30am yesterday, the three men entered the company's
Botolphs Street office, above Subway, and threatened a woman taxi
controller.
They were wearing stockings over their faces and it is believed that one of
them was carrying a knife.
The robbers took several thousand pounds in cash and also made off with
specialist equipment, including a satellite navigation system. It is believed
they drove off in a waiting car.
The taxi controller, a 37-year-old woman from the Colchester area, was
uninjured during the raid but shocked.
All three of the offenders were described as black men. One was 5ft 6ins
tall, of large build and wearing a silver grey zip-up bomber jacket, black
tracksuit and white trainers. He had a London accent and chains around
his neck.
The second was around 6ft tall, slim, and aged in his mid twenties. The
third was also around 6ft tall, was very slim and wearing a hoodie-style
tracksuit.
Police want to hear from anyone who was in the area of Botolphs Street in
the early hours of the morning and who may have seen the men before or
after the robbery.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Sgt Danny Stoten on
01206 762212, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
