accidents come in all shapes and sizes which means some are fatal. My condolences go out to this family who tragically lost their son in this accident but on a broader theme I would ask the question where do you draw the line on license suspensions when such fatal accidents occur? We see some people being suspended and others being allowed to drive? I know for a fact that most taxi drivers involved in an accident wouldn't like it one bit if their license was suspended for any length of time. ________________________ January 21, 2008 Monday Tribute to crash victim, aged 19 The Bolton News The family of a 19-year-old man killed following a crash in Heywood have paid tribute to him. Scott Kenneth Howatson, aged 19, of Orrington Street, Heywood, was hit by a taxi on Manchester Road, near to the junction with Ormerod Street, Heywood, at about 10.30pm on Friday. Scott was taken to Fairfield Hospital but died a short time later. Scott was a trainee printer and worked in Middleton. He was a keen sportsman who regularly went to the gym and played for Roch Dynamos FC until he was 18. He leaves behind three sisters, aged nine, 17 and 22, along with a brother, 16. His mum, Mandy Howatson, issued the following tribute: "Scott was the life and sole of the party who was committed to everything he did. "He adored his girlfriend Michelle, who he had been seeing for a year. Scott liked to look after me and could never do enough to help. "The family have been left numb and devastated by his tragic death and I know his friends feel the same. His death has left a massive void that can never be filled." His dad, Mark Howatson, said: "Scott was a fantastic, loving son. He loved playing and watching football and was a lifelong Leeds United fan. I, like the rest of the family and his friends, am devastated at his death. No parent should have to bury their child." __________________ |
