Ex-Cornet fined for assault
Former Cornet George Young was fined £150 after assaulting a taxi driver.
Young, 32, of Flex Farm House, Hawick, admitted standing in the middle of the road, forcing a moving vehicle to stop, and committing a breach of the peace in Hawick High Street on July 1.
He also admitted assaulting a taxi driver by punching him on the face to his injury.
The court heard how the offences happened around 2.10am, and defence agent Colin McNab confirmed the accused had paid the taxi driver, whose ear piece was broken in the assault, £500 compensation the following day.

Another one who should have spat on the cabby instead of punching him. He also might have got two months?
