Anger at sky-high cab fares

WHAT has happened to the taxi service at Leeds Bradford Airport?

Getting a taxi from the airport is a shambles. You cannot walk out after your journey, you have to pre-pay then you have to find the minicab that corresponds with the number on your ticket.

Shocked

The price for one of these minicabs has risen from £7-£10, in some cases.

My son and his five friends asked for a quote from LBA to City Square in Leeds and were quoted £25 for a six-seater. They go away for long weekends about five times a year.

When they used Hackney carriage taxis the fare was about £16.50. They were shocked at having to pay an extra £8.50 - a huge increase. Surely there is some regulation over fares?

I will also be writing to Hackney carriage and Trading Standards about the prices that are being charged.

In future when we land at LBA we will be ringing for a Hackney carriage taxi, whilst waiting for our luggage.

Having read an article (YEP, 4 January) with a quote from a spokeswoman for the airport - "Arrow had demonstrated commitment to customer service as well as competitive fares" - we all hope that the said spokeswoman will take another look at customer service and prices and bring both back into line with the easy and efficient service that was provided by Hackney carriage taxis over the last 15 years that we, as a family, have been using the airport.

If this is not possible, please bring back the Hackney carriage.

Know who will give me odds as to whether or not this lady is involved in the cab trade?
