Driver injured in 'racist' attack
A Ghanaian taxi driver was taken to hospital after being assaulted by a
group of men in what police believe may have been a racially motivated
attack.
The man, who is in his mid 30s, called at The Nedge Social Club in
Stirchley Avenue, Telford, Shropshire, in the early hours when he was set
upon.
Up to four men beat him about the head and smashed six windows of his
silver Skoda estate.
Most of the offenders were white, while one was of a Far Eastern
appearance.
The man was taken to Princess Royal Hospital for treatment before being
released.
CDs stolen
West Mercia Police said those responsible had probably been drinking in
the club where an 18th birthday party was being held.
The offenders fled on foot and took with them the driver's bag containing a
small amount of cash, a map book and some CDs.
The Nike bag is grey and of a "leatherette-type" material, police said.
Police are also interested in finding out more about a van with blacked out
windows seen nearby.
