Metal bar used in terrifying taxi attack
A taxi driver had a metal bar put across his neck and he was held back
while his car was raided on Saturday night.
Detectives are appealing for information about the robbery, which was
carried out by four men in Whitehill Avenue, Luton, shortly after 9pm.
The driver had been called to the Mother Redcap in Latimer Road, where
the taxi had been booked under the name of James.
Four white men, believed to be aged between 25 and 30, got in and asked
to be taken to Whitehill Avenue.
When they got there, a passenger in the back seat put a bar across the
victim's neck, while another held his hands behind his back.
The man in the front seat then searched the car before jumping out with
cigarettes, a lighter and a mobile telephone.
All four men left the area on foot down an alleyway.
They are all described as being between 5ft 4ins and 5ft 6ins.
Det Con Chris Hutton, investigating, has appealed for anyone with
information to get in touch.
Det Con Hutton can be contacted at Luton Police Station on 01582 394169.
Alternatively, witnesses can call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
