13 Feb 2008 Sex Charge Taxi Driver Is Given Bail A taxi driver who denies a string of sex charges involving female passengers has been granted bail. City Resident Judge Francis Gilbert QC, sitting in chambers, granted conditional bail to independent Hackney cab driver Malcolm Curtis, of Kings Tamerton. The 47-year-old is charged with raping a female passenger on November 5 last year. He also faces five other sexual offence charges, allegedly involving other women travelling in his cab. Curtis, of Flamstead Crescent, first appeared in court in January, when he was charged with rape. He was then brought back before the court to face five more sex offence charges, which date back up to four years. Curtis is charged with indecently assaulting women passengers, all aged between 21 and 23, on October 9, 2003, two women in separate alleged incidents on April 21, 2005, and another female on July 29, 2005. He is also charged with voyeurism - between January 1 and December 1 last year he allegedly observed another person doing a private act for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification for himself.
