Daily Post (Liverpool) February 27, 2008, Wednesday Southport firm wins sole rights to import 'Hummerzine'; A MERSEYSIDE firm has won the sole right to import a new stretch limousine to the UK. Southport-based US Autos will import the "Hummerzine", a hybrid of a traditional limousine and an offroad Hummer that carries 16 passengers. US Autos owner Peter Fusco, whose company specialises in importing and selling US vehicles, said: "I could see that the government would start to severely regulate the industry, so I decided the time was right to develop my idea for a larger limo. "Now that the new legislation has come in, the Hummerzine is the only American stretch limo to carry more than eight passengers that can be imported and registered in the UK. "It also seems that vehicles with more than eight passengers that have already been registered using the self-drive loophole will now need a PSV licence." US Autos hired Liverpool-based HW Chartered Accountants to oversee the pounds 300,000 investment. HW's Russell Silverman said: "It's been interesting to see the financial requirements needed to develop a new product, in this case a vehicle, from start to finish. "Its exclusivity puts US Autos in a great position for the future and I look forward to seeing the company continue to grow." ____________________________________ |

Look now even the limo mob are starting to realise it's a scam.
Of course him importing something that doesn't need converting has nothing to do with it.

Afraid not Sussex. This guy is just trying to protect his financial interest by talking bollox. There are several companies that already import Hummers that are coiffed and run under PSV and there are several more who convert to sch. 6 and they are still run quite legally on the self drive. I wish it wasn't the case because I would like all limos to be licensed in one form or another but until the government change the law on self drive it will always be there. |
