Minicab driver fined
PRIVATE hire driver Yusifali Kerimli has paid a high price for illegally picking up passengers outside a city nightclub.
The 43-year-old, of Cheriton, Furzton, denied the charges of plying for hire without a pre-booked appointment in April last year.
Milton Keynes magistrates heard two women reported him after he attempted to offer a taxi service as they waited near Pink Punters at Fenny Stratford.
Only a licensed Hackney Carriage can ply for trade on the street.
He was found guilty, fined £800 and ordered to pay £1,170 costs after the trial on Tuesday.
He will now appear before the private hire regulatory committee next month to discuss if he can continue work as a minicab driver.
Afterwards Daniel Mullins, senior enforcement officer for MK Council said it would clamp down on private hire drivers who flout licensing laws by picking up passengers without pre-booking.
