GMB Branch President wrote: THIS IS WITHOUT DOUBT WORTH WATCHING.The article is a fairly short but quite shocking,it concentrates on London drivers and the failure of the authorities too respond in an appropriate manner to gun /knife attacks which are reported as being in progressThe GMBPDB have informed the transport minister of these events following her being interviewed for the programme , we have advised ROSIE WINTERTON that this is a national disgrace to which she agreed and stated her intention to sit down with this union in the very near future and discuss remedial measures . |

GMB PDB London Branch President wrote: WELL YET ANOTHER RISE IN REPORTED ASAULTS.the figures for february are as follows.....1 MURDER, 6 GUN ATTACKS, 7 KNIFE, 5 FIST/BOOT, 3 BY OTHER MEANS (SYRINGE, IRON BAR,AND STUN GUN ...THE BBCs INSIDE-OUT programme is broadcasting its piece on driver attacks and the attitudes of the enforcement /police and the judicuary in terms of sentencing and detection. The programme also speaks to a goverment minister about this subject. CAN I say that the filming took 4 days to complete, and involved members of the GMBPDB, also several London agencies devoted considerable resources to the unions project, for which we are eternally gratefull. The producer has asked me to thank all those who contributed towards the making of this programme and espescially to the GMBPDB without whose help the programme would not have been possible THE PROGRAMME GOES OUT ON FRIDAY 7th MARCH AT 1930hrs BBC-1 (dont miss it) |

It's not shown on all the BBC regions. For example, South West will see: 7:30 pm - Inside Out Janine Jansen reports on a teenage girl trying to give up binge drinking, Mike Dilger tracks down the seal that lost its way to Cornwall and Russell Labey searches for truffles.

Inside Out: 07/03/08 Inside Out investigates the crime wave hitting London's minicab's, and the King of Clowns Held at gun point – the crime wave hitting London’s mini cab drivers Criminals and muggers have effectively been using mini cabs as mobile cash points. They call a cab, give a false address they are standing outside and then directing the mini-cab driver to a remote location they strike. Inside Out talks to mini cab drivers who say they are routinely held at gun point and threatened. A mini-cab firm in Croydon run by a former police officer claims every weekend around four to six of his drivers are seriously assaulted. The union and mini cab firms say the police are often slow to respond and are not taking these crimes seriously. Sankha Guha reports. Quote: Inside Out: 07/03/08

And what was Terry's contribution to the programme? To come on and call the Police racist's, and wear a top Elvis Presley would have worn in a 1975 concert.
If anyone wants to see the advert for the Keen group Minicab company . . . and Flanaguff in the flesh . . . view here, I warn you he's not pretty: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/page/item/ ... d=b0093wn4 The segment starts at about 10 minutes into the programme, use the slider bar to FF past Terr.... sorry I mean the embryo bit.

I thank you for the link to BBCiPlayer but am saddened by your inability to offer credit where it is due. |
