Taxi Thug Locked Up
A DRUNKEN teenage yob who attacked an elderly cabbie with a knife over
a £3.80 fare has been locked up.
The 69-year-old driver crashed as he tried to escape thug David
Adamson, 19.
Jedburgh Sheriff Court heard how the victim suffered cuts to his face and hands.
Adamson, of Hawick, admitted November's attack in the town. He was
sentenced to two years, eight months in a young offenders' institution.

Detention for taxi knife attacker
A teenager who attacked a taxi driver has been sent to a young offenders'
institution for more than two years.
David Adamson, 19, of Hawick, admitted repeatedly striking his victim on
the head and body with a knife, in the town's Trinity Street on 10 November.
Jedburgh Sheriff Court heard Adamson carried out the attack after he had
consumed a cocktail of alcoholic drinks and was asked to pay a fare of £3.80.
Sheriff Kevin Drummond sentenced him to two years and eight months detention.
The taxi driver suffered cuts to his hand and face and crashed his vehicle
in his bid to escape from the teenager.
