Many will remember this guy. ___________________ Yorkshire Post March 1, 2008 Killer of Stephanie, 20, sent to Greece for rest of jail term THE Greek national who kidnapped and killed travel agent Stephanie Hammill has been sent back to his country to serve the rest of his sentence there. Ioannis Revenikiotis was jailed for 11 years last October for the kidnap and manslaughter of Miss Hammill, 20. Under an extradition agreement Revenikiotis, 29, has been back under the care of the Greek government since Thursday. Miss Hammill's parents, Brian and Jane, along with her fiancé, James Garland, have said they hope he suffers while behind bars. In a joint statement they said: "He is a very dangerous individual with a warped mind, and we are glad that he is no longer in this country. We hope he will never be allowed to come back. "The main thing we want to say is good riddance to him. "We understand that condi tions in Greek prisons can be a lot worse than those in Britain and we hope the years he has to spend in jail there will be as harsh as possible." On Thursday detectives from Wakefield, who helped bring Revenikiotis to justice, escorted him on to a plane at Heathrow Airport to hand him over to officials from Greece. A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Revenikiotis will continue to serve his sentence in Greece under UK sentencing rules and will not be eligible for any early release criteria under the Greek prison system." Miss Hammill was abducted in Wakefield as she walked home from a night out with Mr Garland in November 2003. She hailed what she thought was a taxi and got in. Revenikiotis was the driver. Minutes later she jumped or fell out, fearing he was going to sexually attack her. She fell into the path of a taxi. ______________________ |
