Taxi robber who threatened to kill driver jailed

A ROBBER from Batley who threatened to kill a taxi driver has been jailed for 'at least' two years and 90 days.

Leeds Crown Court heard how John Flynn, 25, of Wyvern Close, threatened taxi driver Mohammed Shazad with a knife after he pulled up to let Flynn use a cash machine on December 30.

Prosecutor Sean Morris said Flynn had said "give me money or I will kill you" before making off with just £80.

Neil Clarke, mitigating, said heroin addict Flynn had taken drugs and drunk heavily before committing the offence.

Sentencing Flynn, who had pleaded guilty, Judge Rodney Grant said he was dangerous and could not apply for parole within two years and 90 days.

Flynn's previous convictions included possessing knives and stabbing a previous robbery victim in 1999.
