Liverpool Daily Echo February 26, 2008, Tuesday 1ST Edition Man's 60,000 pounds taxi fraud A PSYCHIATRIC nursing assistant with an aversion to public transport claimed almost 60,000 pounds in taxi fares from the state. Liverpool crown court heard John Jones suffered panic attacks and was entitled to take cabs to and from work. But he conned pounds 33,223 out of the Access to Work scheme by massively exaggerating the number of taxis he took. For four years he submitted bogus taxi receipts and forged a colleague's signature on claim forms. The court heard Jones suffers from claustrophobia and agoraphobia and claimed to have panic attacks when he used public transport. The judge was told the 46-year-old began working as a psychiatric nursing assistant in August 2001 for Merseycare NHS Trust based at Rathbone Hospital in Wavertree. Kevin Slack, prosecuting, said twice-married Jones alleged he was working seven days a week, though he never worked more than five. In January 2005 he started working at the Ashworth high security hospital in Maghull, by now only working three days. Jones, of Wortley Road, Fazakerley, admitted 32 offences of false accounting and had 24 similar offences taken into consideration totalling pounds 59,000. Judge David Swift adjourned sentence on Jones until next month. ____________________________ |

Why is it that when folks have a good scam going do they get a tad greedy. Everyone knows the only folks mug enough to work seven days a week do so in a taxi/PH. |
