Cabbie Denies Late-Night Sex Attack
A Swansea taxi driver has denied carrying out a late-night sex attack on a
woman.Abdul Islam is alleged to have assaulted the woman after picking
her up in High Street on Sunday, February 24.
Islam, aged 27, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared at
Swansea Magistrates Court yesterday.
District judge Richard Williams declined jurisdiction in the case and
ordered Islam, of Eiddwen Road, Penlan, to face the charge at Swansea
Crown Court. The defendant was granted conditional bail - he must not
work as a taxi driver, enter the Plasmarl area or contact the alleged victim
- and was ordered to reappear before magistrates on April 2 for a
committal hearing.
