Taxi Stab Thug Gets Four Years
A VICIOUS thug who stabbed a taxi driver in a robbery bid was jailed for
four years yesterday.
Terry Boyle, 21, who committed the offence while out on licence for
serious assault, was also ordered to serve 270 days of his previous sentence.
At the High Court in Glasgow, Boyle admitted assaulting taxi driver William
Wilson by striking him on the head and body with a screwdriver.
At an earlier appearance, the court heard Mr Wilson had dropped off a
passenger in Irvine, Ayrshire, in the early hours of November 17 last year.
Boyle, whose address was given as Kilmarnock Prison, walked up, opened
the door and said: "I'm gonna stab you. Gi'e us the keys to the car."
He then produced a screwdriver and demanded the driver's car keys and cash.
The cabbie managed to get out of the car and pushed Boyle against it
before he ran off.
Boyle was later arrested at Irvine Royal Academy car park.
Mr Wilson was treated for eight stab wounds.
