This is a wonderful gesture but I am curious as to how many rape victims would feel safe in a taxi on their own. This is not to say they shouldn't feel safe as I'm sure they are but lets not forget that some rapists are opportunists and how many rapists have previously had badges. I have to say I would feel safer being taken by a police car than by a taxi and definately safer if the vehicle taking me had a female driver

Seems a bit odd to me that if someone who has suffered some form of sexual trauma has to attend the SSARC in swindon that they would want to do it so openly and without anonymity...using a taxi free or paid for must be a painful experience as the driver (a complete stranger) taking a person there would be well aware of the reason of their journey. Surely the SSARC would be better to employ a Driver of their own to collect and drop off Victims of such crimes, drivers that are trained to handle such Victims and who would make the Passenger feel more comfortable and secure. if the Victim is already in a high state of Anxiety and volatilty there is always a danger that an Inadvertant and innocent remark by the Taxi driver might just Trigger an incident leading to all kinds of potential and devastating possibilities...both to Driver and Victim alike.
