Station Taxis have invited everyone to a meeting today so that they can explain why they have signed a three year deal with National Express.Allegedly, Station Taxis have agreed to pay for the franchise themselves up front and then sell on the permits at no extra cost to drivers, one can only hope that no one takes up their very generous offer as the cost will be £1250 per year, just a small rise of £722, Originally anyone who wanted a permit was going to be allowed one, now they say as there is only a limited amount of work they will be limited, once again renaging on their word.

£1250 a year?

Feck me, that's my Insurance, plus a few services, all for the right to use a rank?

That would mean the permit is in the region of 60 pounds a month. I suppose some will pay it and some wont. It depends on how much you guys value the work coming out of the station.

The alternative would be to allow all York cabs to obtain a permit which would probably half the fee.

Does the fee include radio subs to station taxis or are they separate? If it does include the subs then the permit is probably well worth it.

How do you work out £1250 a year is £60 a month? it's more like £104 a month and no it does not include a radio that will cost you another £55 per week.

lol I wonder how I arrived at that? Any ideas?

You have already paid the council for the privilege of working without paying again.
All the stations driver should just pull out and leave the office in the sheit they will soon drop the price.

lets be fair here, Stn taxis have banttered about that its cost them £100,000 for the contract, they are saying its a franchise, as we all know a franchise like this has to go out to contract, to which it never did

so what is the true cost of the permits, we may never know

not going into exact maths, you can do that yourselves, £100,000 based on 117 taxis, works out about £850 ish per taxi, the rest is pure profit from your £1250
someones working a flanker here, maybe just to boost Stn taxi shareholders income and wages
if this is all agreed why are they going back next week to further discuss, these people stn taxi drivers aint experts at negotiation, lets face it they went in to consider a lower price and came out with a price double the size

Im not a hackney driver but have it does not take a genius to discover this stinks absolute disgrace

The drivers that work out of the station seem to think that they are above the drivers that work just off the ranks anyway,so they get no sympathy off me.

If they don't like it they don't have to pay it.

So you will then have another 80 drivers working the ranks with you, no one is looking for sympathy just common sense which seems to be lacking in certain quarters.

£1250 per year plus £55 per week radio = £4110 , times 117 cabs £480,870 per year income for station taxis office

Its quite interesting this....

I mean, based on a figure that we don't even know is true, we are getting people surmising over the entire operation of a company, even though they don't even come from the place.

People dont even know what conditions are attached to the station contract, yet they presume the company involved should give out permits for cost price?

FFS I havent even heard the 'plus VAT' words mentioned in anything I've yet seen.

Irrespective of the above a limit on numbers that operate on the station makes those with permits more immune than others from that nasty deregulation thingy that occurred last year and will continue to occur till nobody wants a taxi license in York anymore.
