Stinky, if the cars cannot be any more than 4 when first put on they will comply with euro 3 or 4,
most euro 2 vehicles will be about 8 years old by now.
The could always by a A4 skoda tdi for £36 a week from the taxi centre

Can some one tell me why it is only the Taxi/Private hire trade that gets shafted like this. you dont see age limits or emission limits put on buses or coaches serving the public if they are serious about saving the planet they should be forcing those old sheds off the roads, for that matter no other industry gets restrictions like this.
Also can anything be done to oppose these changes.

As I predicted a few years ago on here, when London sneezes . . . .

I'm certain congestion charge zones will also be appearing in a town near you sooner or later.

If you read the court judgment that was posted last night you will see that councils cannot impose any rules and regulations on taxis or PH but must stick to the rules and regulations that are published, and until the secretary of state makes a decision to change the rules, from what your 1976 act says (or whatever it is now) they stand at the moment

Buses and coaches do are limited by age/pollution in some areas.
They are subject to age restraints on most tendered services

If they are unreasonable then yes, but it's going to cost a lot of dough up front.

Thus it seldom happens, and councils know it.

And people said the London Mayoral elections did'nt interest them? [-(

It's thanks to our socialist dictator provincial councils are now following suit with emissions and congestion policies.

No idea, business is down for those within the zones, but in fairness the areas within the zone were generally accessed by public transport anyway.
