O dear Mr Mc-Leech of Dundee, you time is up.

Now if the council had done their job a year or so ago, then they wouldn't have lost 10's of thousands in court costs.

All that is in this Draft Report, was happening a year ago, but it didn't seem to matter then. Whatever one thinks of 203020 (I have no idea of their full SP), at least they have made the council do it's job.

I just hope many more take note, but my breath is not being held for too long.

Yes, I think that demonstrates that those who say disallowing transfers will sort everything out just haven't thought it through properly.

Unsurprisingly, Mr 40-years-in-the-trades solution is to let them sell the plates on!!

Maybe the council there know that the writing's on the wall, and have decided to do the decent thing before OFT bring these issues into the public domain.

You may be correct Sussex Man, the report might indicate that the ground is being prepared for de-limitation.

Indeed, my source in Dundee tells me that an extended version of the story was the lead article in the morning paper there, the first he can recall. (although its not on the paper's website).

The article also pointed out that when the town was delimited in the past then the problem of plate hiring ceased to exist, and this was also mentioned in a leader in the paper.

Well, the worst type are those who got a plate for nothing then go off to do other things but use the plate to...er...leech off the trade.

I believe this accounts for most of the plates in Dundee.

A McLeech is just the Scottish version, for obvious reasons - it's nothing to do with McDonald's.

Well, it could be, because the leech could work in McDonald's, in which case McLeech would be an appropriate term, even for an English leech.

But then he wouldn't be a leech, because the plate would more than likely have been bought - at least that's how Mick would see it.

In my view (certainly not a view shared by all on TDO), someone who buys a plate from the grey market, and then gets others to work it, is a leech on the trade.

Cos really, he has put nothing into our trade, only sucked money out of it.

These are the sort of people who if you give them £200 one week, want £250 the next. They are a greedy, snidedy, slimy bunch of ****s, and the sooner they are out of our trade, the better for us all.

The crazy thing is, that some of them are already out of our trade, cos they are dead. But still they leech from their grave.

In short, you could well say that they are not my best friends.

(but Andy once accepted there was an exeption, those who worked thier taxi and rented it out to a jockey< he accepted they put back in)

the only info drivers have is that david young of dundee private hire handed a list of hired plates to the officer present and for some reason stormed out at the end of the meeting

perhaps he was anoyed at something, I wasnt at the meeting
