Read that they're toiling for numbers this year. I did it last year and although the weather wasn't great it was a good day out. Unfortunately I can't afford to do it this year. I got a phone call from Chief Bell asking if i will be doing it as well so they must really be toiling. Surely some of you guys out there who've never done it could do it even just this once ?

I'm sorry to let the kids down but I've got two of my own to worry about and times are hard.

At the risk of you changing the title, you've spelled outing wrong

LET'S KEEP IT CIVIL ? AYE RIGHT

I'm not telling any lies it's the way it is. Bet you wouldn't come up to me and say that ?

Like i said at least i've done it once, can't afford to do it this year and i'm getting out of this game soon as it's going downhill steeper than the drum brae. And with people like you involved in it, just as well.

Welcome to the Real World boys.

Before anyone starts, this might be about the kiddies outing but I think that it spells out the bigger picture to everyone, even to those in the denial.

BTW, I would get use to it the worst is yet to come....

All we need now is Stu, to come on and tell us it's not happening.

This will be the Skull and Taylor's fault of course.

Is there anything else, to be added to the list?

Talk about acts of desperation.....

Skull it's not happening.....there you go, happy?

Of course it's not your fault, nor Jims, but I seem to recall that you tried to use the level of fares in Edinburgh as leverage for derestriction.

I pointed out that many areas that had no limit on numbers actually had higher fare levels than those that were restricted, these things were ignored because they didn't fit the argument.

If drivers can't afford a day a year for folks in need, then the trade really is in the poo.

I wish there were more of these outings, and the trade could be seen in a far better light by those that think we are lower than the low.

But unfortunately this trade has a few well meaning folks, in a few well meaning areas, but basically the rest don't give a monkeys.

The taxi can be off the road for at least two days. One day to decorate, and one day on the outing.

That's two drivers four shifts. One of the taxis I owned, a long my partner was off the road for the above. We decorated the vehicle the day before, and Jim, drove it on the day. It took us a third day to clean the vehicle competently - between jobs.

The bloody paintwork was all sticking plaster - lots of fun.

Cost a fortune . . . .

Stu, have a word with yourself.

This has nothing to do with getting plates.

Plates have stopped selling and are now falling in value. If you can't get the finance, you can't buy? Unless of course you have the money on the hip.

Who, in their right mind invests money into a depreciating market, with diminishing returns?

Things are not going to get better for a long time. The arse is falling out of the market. Whether you like it or not, you bought in at precisely the wrong time. Ali, on the other hand, sold-out, just in time.

You were well warned Stu.

Thanks for your concern and those kind words.

Yeah, my property will probably be losing some of it's value as well, do I care, no.

I've not done anything wrong so all in all this is really, really sweet for me, infact I'm chuffed to bits actually.

As I've said, it's all gone to plan and it's a beautiful thing, I've engineered it to perfection this time, excelled myself even, is it Art, is it science, who knows, who cares.
