If they have gone bust then that's a massive bonus for the legal licensed trade, as these scumbags were anything but. Thank the Lord for the 'Road Safety Act'. ![]()

Or is it financial? TBH I don't mind, but maybe the former led to the latter. |

After having one of their cheques for just over £1k returned at the end of July, marked "refer to drawer", I stopped taking any further work and demanded to be paid all that was owed to me, After receiving two thirds of what was owed to me and being given the run around chasing the balance, I used the small claims court to issue a summons for the remaining balance only 10 days ago. I'm aware of a few other Chauffeur Companies who are owed quite a few thousand!! It will be interesting to see what happens. For the record, I have ALWAYS been licensed, so don't tar everybody who did work for them with the same brush.

Steve I see that your Company is fully Licensed, obviously there were a lot of Licensed Vehicles and Drivers working for the Company in question, however it seems possibly there were a lot of un licensed vehicles too, With the straight forward Private Hire or Hackney Vehicles it is far plainer to see the Licensed status, even the Licensed Limos from London clearly display there Licence Disc. Obviously Companies running with out any "Disc's" could be mistaken for un licensed! but then would the scenario below invalidate a Licence anyway? "If All Destinations were Licensed as a Private Hire Company in Dover how could they book your Drivers and Vehicles if your Licensed by a different Council? Is that not a cross Border issue?" |

I agree the vicims are the people owed money ............... but my question really was about what happens when companies previously operating under S75 decide that they do not need to become licensed. I doubt that the resons were financial for the demise of All Destinations ................ Saga apparently paid them on Tuesday. B. Lucky

B. Lucky ![]() The obvious answer would be that the local authority would contact them and insist on licensing or prosecute them. The reality is that this is not happening. There may be a few exeptions but I have heard of none yet. In January there was loads of talk on here about how this was going to stop a lot of limousines from operating well this has not happened at all. I have not seen one story of limos being stopped in Nottingham this year but last year from May to July it was every Friday and Saturday. The carparks at the airports are still full of "executive" cars with no licensing at all. So until there are some high profile prosecutions, many of the offenders will just not bother. |

excuse me for being naive but whose job is it root out unlicensed vehicles? if a PH can be nicked for touting and charged/nicked for no insurance, etc why cant a limo?... or is the PH an easy target? LO's should stand outside churches when there are weddings. and schools on prom nights, it couldnt be easier |

Standing outside churches would be a waste of time, weddings are exempt from licensing. Yes you would think it quite easy to find unlicensed vehicles of any sort simply by going to places that they are known to frequent such as school proms, Royal Ascot, and other high profile sporting events such as cup finals. The reality again is that traffic is already chaotic at these events and setting up check points just makes things worse so I guess they don't bother. I have personally pointed out to police officers at Royal Ascot, vehicles that were not even registered only to be told that nothing can be done because it is private land. Again nothing will be done when the vehicle leaves the course because of the already chaotic situation.
Next time you are out and about just take a look at vehicle registration plates, how many are now eastern european? These people don't have road tax, mot and probably no insurance. They don't get done by speed cameras because the DVLA has no record of the vehicle, they don't pay the congestion charge for the same reason. I have seen stretched limousines still showing American plates so what chance is there unless when stopped they are taken straight off the road. |

On your point about touting, it would be very rare if ever for a stretched limo or an executie car to actually be touting. If they don't have a job, they are unlikly to be cruising, looking to pick up a punter. And obviously the people responsible for enforcement are VOSA and the LA. |
